Summary:
Place the sample on a firm plane, hold the hardness tester, the indenter of the middle hole of the foot shall be at least 12mm away from the edge of the test block, press the foot firmly on the sample without any vibration, and keep the foot parallel to the surface of the sample, so that the indenter vertically presses into the sample. The applied force shall be just enough to make the foot fully contact the sample. Unless otherwise specified, the reading must be taken within 1s after the foot and the sample are fully contacted, In case of other interval readings, it must be stated that the hardness value shall be measured 5 times at different positions at least 6mm apart from the specimen, and the average value shall be taken.
